Wounded Warrior Project provides lifesaving programs and services for thousands of injured, ill, or wounded veterans and their families. Since 2003, WWP has invested more than $2.4 billion in these programs in mental and brain health, career counseling, benefits, physical health and wellness, connection, long-term rehabilitative care, and advocacy.

Your donations ensure veterans and families never pay a penny for this support. Those donations also help foster innovation to improve the lives and opportunities for wounded veterans.

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) invests in innovation to improve the lives of injured and ill veterans and families. One such innovation is WWP’s Warrior Care Network^®, a collaboration with four world-renowned academic medical centers to treat post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and substance use disorder.

Wounded Warrior Project is a direct service organization. 100% of your donation supports wounded warriors. About 71% -- more than $260 million in fiscal year 2023 – was spent directly on programs and services for wounded warriors, families, and caregivers. The balance paid to support the delivery of this life-changing support.

In fiscal year 2023, just over 5% of expenses cover Wounded Warrior Project administrative costs.

Wounded Warrior Project invested $88 million in fundraising in 2023, less than 24% of expenses. That investment brought in nearly $3.80 per dollar spent.

This investment drove the free programs and services that improve the lives of veterans, families, and caregivers. These programs help with mental and brain health, career counseling, benefits, physical health and wellness, connection, long-term rehabilitative care, and advocacy.

Wounded Warrior Project has a four-star rating – the highest possible rating – from Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator’s rating says, “you can give with confidence.”  We are a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited charity that has met all the organization’s standards for accountability.  In addition, Wounded Warrior Project holds a 2024 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar).

Wounded Warrior Project is a direct service organization that provides all programs and services at zero cost to the warriors, family members, and caregivers we serve. To provide those free programs and services, we rely on the incredible generosity of our donors, who we reach through various fundraising efforts.  Developing and delivering direct programs and services that fill gaps in government care and combat complex issues, like mental health or personal independence, require more resources (including the expertise of Wounded Warrior Project staff to support them).

The IRS Form 990 is referred to more frequently by donors, other charitable groups, charity watch groups, and the public. As always, our audited financials are available on our website.

Yes. Wounded Warrior Project’s outreach initiatives are designed to educate injured service members about the free programs available to them and their families through Wounded Warrior Project. The outreach also helps encourage the public to refer veterans to the organization and spread awareness of the issues facing veterans and their families.
