Wounded Warrior Project^® (WWP) provides lifesaving programs and services for thousands of veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Since 2003, WWP has invested more than $3 billion in these programs in mental and brain health, career counseling, benefits, physical health and wellness, connection, long-term rehabilitative care, and advocacy.

Your donations ensure service members, veterans and families never pay a penny for this support. Those donations also help foster innovation to improve the lives and opportunities for wounded veterans and service members.

One such innovation is WWP’s Warrior Care Network^®, a collaboration with four world-renowned academic medical centers to treat post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and substance use disorder.

Wounded Warrior Project is a direct service organization. 100% of your donations support veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. More than 70% -- more than $274 million in fiscal year 2025 – was spent directly on programs and services for wounded warriors, families, and caregivers. The balance of donations supports the delivery of this life-changing support.

6% of expenses cover Wounded Warrior Project administrative costs. 

23 cents of every dollar donated goes to fundraising. Wounded Warrior Project invested $91 million in fundraising in 2025, 23% of expenses. That investment brought in $4.30 per dollar spent.

This investment drove the programs and services that help veterans and active-duty service members achieve better health and well-being and improve the lives of families and caregivers. These programs help with mental and brain health, career counseling, benefits, physical health and wellness, connection, long-term rehabilitative care, and advocacy. Warriors never pay a penny for our support because of the generous donations of Wounded Warrior Project supporters.

Wounded Warrior Project has a four-star rating – the highest possible rating – from Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator’s rating of Wounded Warrior Project says “you can give with confidence." We are a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited charity that has met all the organization’s standards for accountability. Wounded Warrior Project also holds a 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar).

As a direct service organization, Wounded Warrior Project develops and delivers direct programs and services that fill gaps in government care and combat complex issues like mental health or personal independence for wounded warriors. Being a direct service organization means we rely on staff to deliver and support our programs for wounded, ill, and injured veterans, active-duty service members, families, and caregivers. It also means that donors have a personal link to warriors. You know your money is going to help a warrior get the help they need.

The IRS Form 990 is referred to more frequently by donors, other charitable groups, charity watch groups, and the public. As always, our audited financials are available on our website.

Yes. Wounded Warrior Project’s outreach initiatives are designed to educate service members and veterans about the no-cost programs available to them and their families through Wounded Warrior Project. The outreach also helps encourage the public to refer warriors to the organization and spread awareness of the issues facing veterans, service members and their families.

The purpose of the Long-Term Support Trust is to provide the economic means to care for severely wounded warriors in settings that are as independent as possible and to assist with long-term care needs in the event of a warrior’s separation from their caregiver. Specifically, the Trust provides funds to ensure home care, residential options, financial planning, and other necessary services remain available to these warriors, who, upon the loss of their caregiver, are at risk for institutionalization.
